Things to Do in Honiton
Honiton has an extensive history, many surrounding its role in the lace industry. Queen Victoria’s wedding dress was in fact created out of Honiton Lace and there is a large collection of lace created in the town at the local museum. As well as being able to view the lace, you can also watch demonstrations of lace making and other exhibits.

Honiton’s history doesn’t just include lace making, the town is also famous for the quality of its pottery and is widely regarded as the antiques hub of the South West – you can indulge in shopping and collecting some unique pieces for your home or just browse and check out the exhibits at the region’s museum.
The traditions of creative arts aren’t the only ones you can enjoy in Honiton. Make sure to visit during July for the traditional Hot Pennies Day – it is much as it sounds, warm pennies are scattered from pub windows – not something you see every day!

Honiton is perfect for those that love being outdoors. It is located within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which gives you access to a range of wonderful walks, cycle trails and open countryside, perfect for a picnic or two! There are trails that will take you towards the Jurassic Coast which is just a few miles away and has some lovely coastal walks and pretty towns as well as those amazing red cliffs and the chance to do a spot of fossil hunting.
